BOVINGTON TANK MUSEUM, Bovington, Dorset

About Bovington Tank Museum

The Bovington Tank Museum houses an incredible collection of nearly 300 military vehicles from over 26 countries.  It is the world's largest collection of armoured fighting vehicles, all of which are in excellent condition having been restored and maintained to their original glory days.  The collection includes unique World War I tanks such as the 1916 Mark I, the oldest tank in the world, alongside tanks which played significant roles in history such as the Sherman Crab from World War II.  There are also many examples of modern fighting vehicles including captured Iraqi (but Russian made) BMPs and T-55s, as well as our own powerhouse, the British Army Challenger.

Take With You

Most of the museum is under cover.  However, special event days and school holiday dates often feature outside displays.  This can sometimes require walking across uneven and muddy ground, especially in wetter weather.  Take a good look at the weather forecast and take macs if rain is anticiapted and a solid pair of walking shoes or wellies for the kids.

Photography is allowed inside the museum so take your camera.

The Tank Museum is committed to ensuring the safety of its visitors by eliminating potential hazards. As a result, they regret that no Tripods or Monopods are permitted inside the Museum without prior arrangement.
